Why I’m doing this
“From peak views to paved loops: a trail runner takes on 12 hours of flat, 1.1 km at a time, for Schweizer Berghilfe. Every loop I survive is money for the Alps while I run nowhere, fast.”
My running history is written mostly in elevation: three E51 finishes and one E101 at the Eiger Ultra Trail, plus the famous Sierre-Zinal. My flat 100k in Biel was derailed in 2025 by a health issue, so I'm making up for it at the Sri Chinmoy 12h run. Trading boulders, roots and ruts for a paved loop means no technical terrain, no climbing, no gravity drops. Just pure rhythm, endurance and plenty of repetition. The main goal: 100 km. Along the way, my mountain-bound marathon PB of 6:27 might come down too. The mountains made me a runner, so Grialto's very first challenge had to give something back to them. Berghilfe supports the farming families and communities who keep the Swiss mountains alive. That's who your pledge is for.
